Five public libraries proudly serve Fillmore County, and can be found in Exeter, Fairmont, Geneva, Milligan, and Shickley. These libraries joined together to spearhead the newspaper archive project, to make Fillmore County history available to the world.
The Exeter Public Library was built in 1974 and can be found at 202 South Exeter Avenue, in Exeter. Contact the Exeter Public Library at (402) 266-3031.
The Fairmont Public Library was established in 1922 by the GFWC Fairmont Woman’s Club. It was relocated several times before the current facility was built in 1969 and can be found at 600 F Street in Fairmont. Contact the Fairmont Public Library at (402) 268-6081.
The Geneva Public Library was established in 1897, and was located in four buildings before the current building, using financial assistance from Andrew Carnegie, was built in 1921, and can be found at 1045 G Street in Geneva. The Milligan Public Library began in 1923 in a small room of the auditorium; relocated in 1992; and then 2015, relocated to the newly renovated, historic Kottas Drugstore building, doubling the space. Contact the Milligan Public Library at (402) 629-4302.
The Virgil and Helen Biegert Public Library in Shickley was built in 1994 thanks to a generous donation from the couple. Contact the Virgil and Helen Biegert Public Library at (402) 627-3365.
